Dr. Hongyue Sun
Dr. Hongyue Sun is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Georgia and Director of the Data Science and System Informatics Lab. His group develops data science and AI methods for secure, ethical, and safe smart manufacturing, spanning additive manufacturing, quality engineering, privacy-preserving learning, manufacturing cybersecurity, and human-robot collaboration.
Dr. Sun serves as Associate Editor of IISE Transactions and ASME JCISE, serves on the Journal of Quality Technology editorial board, and chaired the INFORMS Quality, Statistics, and Reliability Section from 2023 to 2025. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo.
Dr. Sun received a PhD in Industrial Engineering and an MS in Statistics from Virginia Tech, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology.
