| May 01, 2026 | PhD student Wuyang Chen was named a Finalist for the IISE M&D Best Student Paper Award, the Autoinspector robotic-inspection framework was accepted to ASME MSEC 2026, and the team received a $600K NSF CICI grant for a manufacturing-security living lab. |

| Sep 01, 2025 | Dr. Sun served as Chair of the INFORMS QSR Section, received a Honda climate-smart manufacturing project, began as Associate Editor of ASME JCISE, and organized the 2nd Convergent Safety Symposium. |
| Oct 01, 2024 | The lab celebrated two IISE Transactions Feature Papers. Dr. Sun began service as Associate Editor of IISE Transactions and organized the 1st Convergent Safety Symposium with experts across UGA, UC San Diego, and UT Austin. |
| Aug 15, 2023 | Dr. Sun moved to the University of Georgia, launched the DSSI Lab, received the SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award and UB Exceptional Scholar - Young Investigator Award, and was awarded the $566K NSF Ethical Industry 4.0 project. |
| Apr 15, 2022 | The team won 1st place and $6,000 at the University at Buffalo Agrusa Innovation Competition for an interactive digital twin in cyber manufacturing, with work published at ACM SenSys. |
| Sep 01, 2021 | DSSI launched the STREAM platform under a $2.33M NSF Future Manufacturing Research Grant for multi-stage distributed future manufacturing. |
| Aug 24, 2018 | The team published a foundational cyber-coordinated simulation framework for multi-stage additive manufacturing at IEEE CASE, where the paper was selected as a Prominent Paper. |
| Aug 01, 2017 | Dr. Sun joined the University at Buffalo as an Assistant Professor, launching the research program that became the DSSI Lab. |
